Biography

Otto was born on the outskirts of Zell am See, around a lot of farmland. He is an only child, his father leaving when he was still very young, so it was just him and his mother in the house. He didn’t mind - he was close to her back then and still is today. He was bullied a lot throughout his childhood, he was born with a cleft lip and was always well over average height, as well as generally being a bit socially awkward from not interacting much with other kids outside of school, so when it came to the school hierarchy he was easy pickings. He developed social anxiety at an early age because of the bullying, which only gave them more to [ pick on ]. Due to this, he grew to be a very angry teenager, spiteful towards a society that just seemed to hate him for no reason. He began to lash out and bite back to the bullying which for a while only encouraged them, getting a reaction they found funny, until one day they pushed too hard and he snapped. He was suspended from school for a week after beating up a fellow student, and when he returned he found that, while the judgemental looks had only really increased, there was a hint of fear in some of their expressions now. He discovered that he liked it.Not too long later, Otto found himself getting involved with an underground fighting ring he’d heard about. And, as it turned out, he was very good at it. In fact, using his height and size to his advantage, he never lost a fight, earning him the nickname König. People were finally cheering him on instead of beating him down, he was respected and feared all in one, and he thrived on it. So, at 17, he signed up to the Austrian Armed Forces. He’d finally found something he was good at and wanted to pursue it.The nickname König would turn out to follow him here, both via his own influence and also because of a certain level of bossiness and control he tends to exert over those he could - he found that having control over the people around him helped him avoid anxious situations, as did his persona. Otto’s tendency to get a bit excited when in the field, smug and cocky, no doubt pushed people to accept the nickname, too. He tries his best to come off as intimidating, unsettling, snappy and blunt, all because it is so effective at keeping people at arms length and not having to deal with social interactions outside of work. And, even if it means he doesn’t really have anyone he can call a ‘friend’, he sees that as a worthy sacrifice.Somewhere inside of him, though, beneath those brusque and unfriendly layers, there is still a man who loves his mother’s baking and regularly visits home, who enjoys reading obscure German comic books, who takes meticulous care of the little bonsai tree on his windowsill, and who sometimes lays awake at night wondering if he’s even human anymore.
